About The Annex

The Annex is not like many of the neighbourhoods in Toronto. Not every neighbourhood gets it's name affixed with a "District" or a "Park" or a "Village". Some are just named because of its eclectic affluent neighbourhoods and heterogeneous community. Case in point — Long-term Annex residents blend with young families and transient University of Toronto students, giving the neighbourhood its street dynamic. The Annex really comes alive at night when people mingle among its restaurants, pubs and clubs. This makes it a great choice for buyers who are seeking to rent or own in this exclusive neighbourhood. I personally love that it’s only a ten minute walk from Yorkville, where I live.

Known for its high walkability score and urban chic, the Annex is beloved by all who live here. Nestled beyond some of Toronto’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, you’ll see mature trees and multi blocks of prime real estate land that have morphed into luxury condominiums, including The Annex’s architectural splendour of its stately homes. If you want to call the Annex home, you won’t be disappointed.

Real Estate

Annex real estate is rather high end. Detached Tudor, English Cottage, Queen Anne and Georgian mansions, semi-detached houses and townhouses blend in with luxury condominiums to fill in the gaps. Many singles, couples, families, and empty nesters love the Annex and want to buy a home or condo here, or rent. Whichever stage of the market you are at, I can help.

Multigenerational Living in The Annex

I'm often asked whether the Annex can really work for a whole family, not just one generation. The answer is yes.

For Boomers and seniors downsizing, the Annex offers exactly the trade you're looking for: a smaller footprint without giving up culture, walkability, or connection to people. Everything from the ROM to Queen's Park is close enough to reach on foot.

For adult children helping a parent make this move, the Annex removes a lot of the worry. It's walkable, well served by transit, close to hospitals and amenities, and near enough to the rest of the city that visiting doesn't become a production. I've helped families through exactly this search.

And for young families who grow up loving this pocket of the city, many find themselves back here years later, now helping their own parents settle in nearby. That full-circle pattern is part of what makes the Annex feel like a long-term home base for the whole family.

The Neighbourhood

The Toronto neighbourhood of the Annex is as posh as it is down-home. Locals fill their baskets with finds from Bloor St. shops, while the Annex's casual sidewalk pubs and restaurants cater to laid-back locals. If you love to eat basic country fare, there are plenty of reasonably priced boîtes to find, ribs, wings, burgers, pizza, sushi, and BBQ grilled meats, among the finer fancy neighbourhood restaurants. Beyond eating and shopping, culture, education and recreation are  a huge draw, especially the University of TorontoRoyal Ontario MuseumBata Shoe MuseumGardiner Museum and Koerner Hall. The Annex has it all from incredibly beautiful and architecturally unique homes, to the best restaurants and entertainment you can find in the City of Toronto.

I can’t say enough great things about the Annex! It has also has some excellent schools, such as the private Royal St. George’s College, which has led to many young and double-income families to be counted among the long time residents of the Annex. If that’s not enough you can find a lot walking paths, fountains, statues, and gardens neatly among the University of Toronto and Queen’s Park circle. It is easily one of the most peaceful and reflective places in Toronto.
